The Ellen Valley Riding Club first became affiliated to British Riding Clubs in
2006 and we cater for all levels of rider offering all our members the chance to train and compete in a friendly and safe environment.
The aim of our club is to encourage riding as a sport and recreation, to
promote good fellowship amongst riders and to improve and maintain the standard of riding and horsemanship. Having fun is the most important thing in everything we
We provide something for both riding and non-riding members to help you
enjoy riding and being with your horse. We are always open to suggestions and love to try something new.
We hold regular sessions with qualified instructors for a variety of disciplines,
these are very popular; whether your interest is showing, dressage, x country we have something for all.
Being based in Cumbria and having members from outside the county too we use a
variety of venues Threapland nr. Aspatria, Greenlands and Kingrigg to name a few.
During the summer months we hold dressage competitions, open and for members
only. We have an annual camp which gives ample opportunity for those wishing to try their hand at a variety of different horsey activities. We run showing shows, endurance
competitions and pleasure rides in the country and on the beach (always very popular). Our Trec competitions are growing in popularity. The main thing is that everyone has a chance to
‘have a go’.
We have sent teams to Area Competitions this year for both Show jumping,
Dressage, Hunter Trials and Endurance.
The club is run by a committee of volunteers who meet on a monthly basis.
You can find their names on the website under contacts. If you have any questions or would like more information about what we do or becoming a member please give any of them a call or email if
We hope to meet you soon.
